Faren Gurvey
Faren was born in Winnipeg where she graduated elementary school from Canada’s only English/Hebrew bilingual program in the public school system. Her love for Israel began when she visited the country for the first time with her family to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah. Participating in the Bar and Bat Mitzvah tour, Faren, along with her sister, joined a dozen other 12 and 13-year -olds from across Canada atop Masada for this unforgettable event.
Birthright was Faren’s next opportunity to visit the Holy Land after her first year of university. For her third year of university, Faren jumped at the chance to spend it at the Rothberg International School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. During this experience of a lifetime, Faren was fortunate to study, tour and meet fellow Jewish youth from around the world who shared in this firsthand appreciation for the beauty, history and spirit of Israel.
Upon graduation from university, Faren joined the staff of the Canadian office of the Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University where she currently serves as the Alumni and Social Media Coordinator. This position allows her to travel across Canada connecting with Hebrew U alumni and giving information to prospective Hebrew university students.
Faren enjoys travelling, reading, cooking, playing softball, working out and talking about the tremendous Hebrew University experience with everyone and anyone who will listen!
