Belinda, right now I'm still taking Hebrew Ulpan, the course is very intensive and well taught. I will start my core courses next week. From what I heard from my roommate, the professors are very knowledgeable in their respective fields and the classes are well organized in terms of coursework and assignments. I'm living in the student dorms that are 7min walk from the university. Most students studying at Rothberg stay there as well as Israeli students. The atmosphere is very friendly and fun. You get to meet people from all over the world as well as from Israel. Some students rented rooms in the center of Jerusalem and they love it there, although it's a half hour bus ride to the university. Let me know if you have other questions.

Oleg - I'm curious - a bit off the topic but what is the quality of the education like there? And also, where are you staying? On campus? Is it a friendly atmosphere if you are there for just 1 semester?

I think the people we met when wandering through the city made the experience that much richer. I found whichever part of Old Jerusalem we were in, the residents were friendly and eager to offer the much needed help with directions. Sometimes these short exchanges would turn into full on conversations. I don’t think you get these opportunities in a guided tour. On the other hand you don’t usually get lost either.

Amazing story and amazing pictures - what an adventure! Were you scared or nervous? What were the things that made this a non-tourist spectacle?
