Need a change ? Want a new learning challenge that will still give you the credits you need for your home school? The aim of this new program is to assure the best possible academic and integrative experience for international students. Students will participate in departmental classes offered at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJ), study Hebrew or Arabic at all levels, as well as experience Israeli society first hand. In addition, students can undertake independent research, and will have the option to consider a wide variety of academically supervised internship opportunitiese in the Arts, Historical Geography and Archeology, Politics, International Relations, Middle East, Community, Education, Social Justice, Environment, Health and Medicine,  Law and Human Right, Media and Journalism,  Biological Anthropology, Religion and Social Justice. As of the spring semester of 2010, a growing number of courses at HUJ will be offered in English in fields including Brain Studies, Artificial Intelligence, Environmental Studies, Game Theory, Program in Rationality, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies and Jewish Studies.

Students will have an opportunity to undertake an Independent Research Project, related to their major field(s) of study and supervised by a local faculty member, in lieu of one class during the semester.

Academic Internships, coordinated by the Division of Undergraduate Studies and supervised within the framework of an academic workshop, provide an opportunity to experience Israeli society first hand. Internships will be available through the summer as well as in the course of the semester.

A special extracurricular seminar for participants in this program will include meetings with the President and Rector of the Hebrew University, symposia with Israeli artists and writers, meetings with political figures, and a trip within Israel.

To make up the required 15 credits, you can enroll in at least two courses at the Hebrew University departments taught in Hebrew or in English. For your remaining credit units, you may select courses from the University departmental list or from the courses offered at the Rothberg International School, where you can enroll in courses in the Undergraduate Division and in the Graduate Division that are open to upper-level undergraduates.

A four-week intensive Hebrew language class is mandatory. Students will do the required language study beginning mid-January at the Winter Hebrew School (Ulpan). Interested students will be able to take optional, term-time language courses in Hebrew or Arabic at beginner, intermediate or advanced levels.
